• Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Cost Estimator
  launched 9/23/2005 on www.medicare.gov
  
• Formulary Finder launched www.cms.hhs.gov on

• Phase 1 of the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
  Finder Tool launched 10/17 Phase 2 with the
  detailed drug pricing information launched 11/7
  
• Online Enrollment Center and Spanish version of
  the web tool coming 11/15

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Cost Estimator

• Launched September 23 on www.medicare.gov and can
  be accessed via the first link on the home page
  entitled Information on Medicare Prescription
  Drug Coverage.
• The cost estimator assumes that the user has no
  current drug coverage. The tool can be used to
  see what the users potential savings will be by
  joining a Medicare prescription drug plan. It
  will also provide the user with information on
  the lowest premium available in the state.
• The calculations are based on the defined
  standard benefit and the lowest premium amount
  offered by a plan for a particular region of the
  country.

Formulary Finder

• Launched on October 17 on www.cms.hhs.gov and
  www.medicare.gov.
  
• Provides easy access to formulary information for
  Medicare prescription drug plans.
  
• Developed in response to requests from
  beneficiary advocates and providers to identify
  plans that have formularies consistent with the
  needs of the populations they serve (for example,
  drugs that are used to treat specific health
  conditions).

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Finder and Online
Enrollment Center

• Phase 1 Launched October 17 and Phase 2 Launched
  11/7 on www.medicare.gov.
  
• This tool provides customized cost sharing
  information for Medicare prescription drug plans
  based on the individuals eligibility or
  ineligibility for help paying for premiums or
  prescription drugs.
• Access to a state by state listing of all
  Medicare prescription drug plans is also
  available through this tool.
