Our family was finally ready for a dog!We felt
the boys were now old enough to take more
responsibility, 11, 11 and 7 years old. We all
helped build the fence around the yard, checked
out books from thelibrary on puppy care, bought
baby gates for inside the house as well as a
crate, bowls, leash, toys and more!

After weeks of searching, we finally found a
puppy at the Seattle Humane Society!
(www.seattle humane society.org)On Thursday,
Dec. 17th, 2003 we went to see the puppy at the
shelter and brought her home!We decided to name
her Ditto.
4
Ditto soon had her 1st visit to the vet. She
checked out okay!About her breed, the vet said
she was part
  • Cattle dog
  • Pit bull
  • Chow
  • Sheltie
  • But basically, MUTT!

5
Our whole family enjoys Ditto! At only 4 months
old, she is already crate trained at night and
rarely has an accident in the house! She love
playing fetch, wrestle and going for walks with
her boys. She is learning not to chew on Legos
and pencils. Boys are learning to keep their
bedroom doors closed!
6
The boys are learning to take the bad with the
good. Its great fun to play with Ditto, but she
also needs feeding, washing and cleaning up
after!By taking turns daily with the Ditto
chores, all boys are learning more
responsibility. They are all designing a doghouse
for Ditto using their own grandiose ideas. We
will combine the more practical plans into a
doghouse to be built in the spring.
7
While Ditto can be a bundle of tail-waggin
energy, she is in our hearts for good! She is not
just a pet but a member of the family!
