What Is It?
  • A book that will capture recipes unique to our
    community, particularly the elderly (via Service
    Learning project)
  • A book that will follow predetermined formatting
    and on-line submission of materials to simplify
    the process and offer the most return for the
    dollar.

Why are we doing this?
  • To raise money for a new display freezer
  • Provide an opportunity for Coop members,
    volunteers, and our community to build relations
    with one another

What will it take?
  • Collection of recipes
  • Typing of recipes to file
  • Selection of cover, layout, dividers etc.
  • Money up front
  • Patience, determination, good will

When will it happen?
  • Beginning now with this Introduction and Overview
    and go ahead from the board
  • Next PDT board decides which freezer to go for
  • Cookbook Committee will then be formed to start
    making basic decisions
  • Collecting of recipes comes next, continues
    through ? (dependent on Argies Service Learning
    project)
  • Goal will be to have cookbooks ready to sell in
    time for holiday shopping 2005

What is required of Committee?
  • Decide of recipes, of books to order
  • Decide categories (could be predetermined)
  • Cover design (some choices predetermined)
  • Divider design (if we make our own, who will do
    it)
  • Anything else to be included (cooking hints,
    index, photos, etc.)
  • Soliciting recipes and typing those submitted on
    handwritten forms
  • Sending text, design choices etc.to cookbook
    printing company proofing copy managing bill
    paying distributing and promoting books

What will it cost?
  • Ball park 200 books with 150 recipes, 2.35 per
    book to produce however
  • There are setup fees, costs for extra stuff, type
    of binding chosen, dividers, etc.
  • The less specialized the cheaper and easier to
    produce.
  • (Note if we try and be too specialized then
    the project workload will become too heavy and
    no one will want to do it- including me)

Whats next?
  • Details needed by the board from Clare and/ or
    committee about the book, the process, etc.
  • Decision about which freezer we plan to buy so
    that it can be part of the early promotion
  • Decision about how much could be used for
    upfront costs
