Title: Grocery Store Recipe Catalog

1
Grocery Store Recipe Catalog
  • Samuel Shelor

2
The Problem
  • People often forget what all is needed to prepare
    some of their favorite dishes.
  • It would be nice to have access to recipes while
    at the grocery store.

3
Why is it a Problem?
  • Forgetting certain ingredients becomes a problem
because the consumer must go out of their way to
    get things they have missed.
  • Stores selling groceries can miss out on sale
    opportunities when ingredients are forgotten.

4
The Customer
  • Any store selling food items, particularly large
    chains.
  • Grocery stores would be the primary customer for
    a system like this.

5
Market Potential
  • Grocery stores and supermarkets are everywhere,
    the market potential is enormous.

6
Why do we care?
  • If someone is not sure what they want to make,
they can decide on something extravagant instead
    of frozen pizza.
  • This system will increase sales while making the
customer feel that they are being assisted.

7
Competition
  • Cell phones with internet access.
  • PDAs with certain software.

8
Problem Solution
  • The Recipe Catalog Terminal
  • A searchable catalog of recipes available to
    customers in grocery stores.

9
Required Software
  • Software to search the database and send results
    to the display.

10
Required Hardware
  • A display device
  • An input device
  • Storage disks

11
Solution Benefits
  • This solution can be provided to all people, not
just people with capable phones or PDAs.
  • Store customers will be encouraged to purchase
    more items from the stores.

12
Solution Problems
  • Limited access to available terminals
  • Different ideas of how something should be made

13
Conclusion
  • This solution has positive implications to both
    the store and their customers.
  • There is a market for anything that will increase
    sales for stores.
