Starting Dreamweaver
  • Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar,
    point to All Programs on the Start menu, point to
    Macromedia on the All Programs submenu, and then
    point to Macromedia Dreamweaver MX on the
    Macromedia submenu
  • Click Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. If necessary,
    maximize the Dreamweaver window
  • Press the F4 key to close all open panels

Using the Site Definition Wizard to Create a
Local Web Site
  • Click Site on the menu bar and then point to New
    Site
  • Click New Site. If necessary, click the Basic
    tab
  • Type Florida Park in the What would you like to
    name your site? text box. Point to the Next
    button
  • Click the Next button. If necessary, click No, I
    do not want to use a server technology. Point to
    the Next button

Local Web Site
  • Click the Next button. Select the first option
    button, and point to the folder icon to the right
    of the Where on your computer do you want to
    store your files? text box
  • Click the folder icon and point to the Create New
    Folder button
  • Click the Create New Folder button
  • Type your last name and first initial as the
    folder name and press ENTER to select the folder
  • Point to the Open button

  • Click the Open button and then point to the
    Create New Folder button
  • Click the Create New Folder button
  • Type parks in the New Folder text box and then
    press the ENTER key to select the folder. Point
    to the Open button
  • Click the Open button and then point to the
    Select button
  • Click the Select button and then point to the
    Next button

  • Click the Next button. Point to the How do you
    connect to your remote server? box arrow
  • Click the How do you connect to your remote
    server? box arrow and then point to None in the
    list
  • Click None and then point to the Next button

    button

    heading. Point to the Font Combination box arrow
    in the Property inspector

  • Click to the left of the line, Biscayne,
    Everglades, and Dry Tortugas National Parks are
    located in southern Florida
  • Drag to select the text, Biscayne, Everglades,
    and Dry Tortugas National Parks are located in
    southern Florida, and the next three lines.
    Point to the Unordered List button in the
    Property inspector
  • Click the Unordered List button

Using Text Indent to Indent a Bulleted List
  • If necessary, select the bulleted list. Point to
    the Text Indent button in the Property inspector

  • If necessary, scroll down to display the closing
    paragraph. Drag through the text to select the
    entire paragraph. Point to the Bold button in
    the Property inspector
  • Click the Bold button and then click anywhere in
    the Document window to deselect the text

Changing the Text Color
  • Select the closing paragraph and then click the
    Text Color box in the Property inspector
  • Position the eyedropper on the shade of blue
    represented by hexadecimal number 333366 (row 5
    from the bottom and column 3 from the right)
  • Click the eyedropper to apply the color to the
    selected text and then close the color picker.
    Click anywhere in the document to deselect the
    text

Inserting a Horizontal Rule
  • If necessary, scroll to the top of the page.
    Click to the right of the heading, Discovering
    Scenic Florida, and then press the END key
  • Click Insert on the menu bar and point to
    Horizontal Rule
  • Click Horizontal Rule. Click the Width box in
    the Property inspector
  • Type 500 and then press the ENTER key. Click the
    Height box
  • Type 6 and then press the ENTER key. Point to
    the Align box arrow

    Document window to deselect the horizontal rule

  • Click the Characters tab in the Insert bar
  • If necessary, scroll down and then click at the
    end of the first bulleted item. Point to the
    Line Break button on the Characters tab in the
    Insert bar
  • Click the Line Break button two times
  • Click the Line Break button two times at the end
    of the second and third bulleted items to insert
    blank lines between the second and third and the
    third and fourth bulleted list items

Adding Your Name and Current Date
  • If necessary, scroll down to display the closing
    paragraph. Click at the end of the closing
    paragraph. Press the ENTER key and then press
    the END key. Verify that Bold is not selected
    and the Text Color box displays the correct color
    in the Property inspector
  • Type your name. Do not press the ENTER key.
    Point to the Line Break button
  • Click the Line Break button. Type the current
    date and then press the ENTER key

  • Scroll up to display the first paragraph in the
    Web page. Click to the right of the World (in
    Walt Disney World) and before the comma and then
    point to the Registered Trademark button in the
    Characters tab
  • Click the Registered Trademark button
  • Click to the right of Epcot and before the comma
    and then click the Registered Trademark button on
    the Characters tab. Click anywhere in the
    document to deselect the symbol

  • Drag through the text, Untitled Document, in the
    Title text box on the Document toolbar
  • Type Florida Parks in the Title text box and then

Checking Spelling
  • Click Text on the menu bar and then point to
    Check Spelling
  • Click Check Spelling. Point to the Ignore button
  • Click the Ignore button
  • Correct any misspelled word by accepting the
    suggested replacement or by typing the correct
    word in the Change To box. Click the Change or
    Change All button, and then point to the OK
    button in the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX dialog
    box
  • Click the OK button

Creating an Absolute Link
  • Click the expand/collapse arrow in the Property
    inspector. Position the insertion point at the
    end of the closing paragraph, press the ENTER
    key, and then press the END key
  • Type Florida Environmental Information and then
    drag to select the text you typed. Click the
    Link box in the Property inspector
  • Type http//www.dep.state.fl.us and then press
    the ENTER key
  • Click anywhere in the Document window to deselect
