5Fieldworker Training
Applies to workers in production agriculture,
commercial greenhouses and nurseries, and
forests. Ag research is considered production
agriculture.

- Train every 5 years
- Proof that workers received training
- Training must be done by qualified trainer
7Notice About Applications
- If the Label requires, orally warn workers and
post treated area. - If no Label requirement, either orally warn
workers or post treated area.

10Oral Notification
- Before each application, tell workers
- Location and description of the treated area
- Length of REI
- Not to enter during the REI
- Provide the same information to workers

- During any REI, do not allow workers to enter a
treated area and contact anything treated with
the pesticide to which the REI applies

25Anti-Retaliation
- Employer cannot retaliate against workers who
attempt to comply with any provision of the WPS
26Pesticide Handler Training
Applies to any employee in California who handles
pesticides as part of their job. This includes
agriculture and all non-agricultural uses. PCAs
and Certified Applicators are exempt from these
training requirements.
27Pesticide Handler
- Mix, load, apply pesticides
- Work as flagger
- Assist in any way with application
- Clean, service, or repair contaminated equipment
- Handle opened containers or unrinsed empty
containers - Field scout or PCA making observations during
application
28Handler Training Requirements
- Train yearly, before handling activities
- Training must be specific to pesticides being
used - Update training when new pesticides are to be
used
29Pesticide Safety Training Record - Handlers
- Signed by trainer, employer, and employee
- Keep for two years
