  • To teach the state standards for social studies(I
    must legally do this)
  • I will do whatever I can to help my students
    become responsible and self-reliant learners

    character that I expect from my students

  • I expect the students in my classes to show the
    highest character at all times

  • To give the maximum effort and cooperation in all
    lessons and activities given in class

  • In academic lab your teacher will go over what is
    expected of you behaviorally in all of your class
    for this year.
  • You are 100 responsible for everything that you
    do or fail to do in this class.

Classroom Behavior
  • Philosophy- Students will be held 100
    accountable for their behavior. My first
    priority is to maintain and protect every
    students legal right to learn. (A.R.S 15-841)
  • Students may not disrupt the learning process, or
    interrupt the teacher from teaching.
  • Students who disrupt the learning process will be
    sent to ISI (school timeout room).

What do you need to bring each day to class?
  • Something to write with in class
  • Daily Objective Question Notebook
  • Any other materials or assignments that you have
    been instructed to bring.
  • Do not come to class unprepared.

Class Procedures
  • Students will line up outside on the wall and
    wait for the teacher to let them in to the room.
  • Absolutely no talking when you enter the room.
    Go directly to your seat being working and get
    ready for class.
  • No questions the first five minutes of class.
  • If you want to get out of your seat or ask a
    question raise your hand, and wait to be called
    on by the teacher.

  • This will be homework each night
  • This will be checked for a grade at the end of
    each week

  • Complete this in your D.O. ? notebook using two
    column notes. Mr. Furman will provide you with a
    D.O.? Notebook.
  • Date each question.
  • Complete more than one question on a sheet on
    notebook paper.
  • When you first enter the room take out your
    notebook and write the question.
  • Answer the question for homework, sometimes I
    will go over the D.O.? before you leave that day.

Agenda/ Weekly Objective
  • You will fill out your agenda the first day of
    the week for the entire week. It will be on the
    screen the first thing when you come in to the
    class.
  • You can also find the weekly agenda on my class
    website.
  • The weekly objective will be written on the
    blackboard, and will be the major points that I
    want you to learn that week. You do not have to
    write this down.

What to do if your absent?
  • Check your school agenda to see what you missed
    when you were absent.
  • Check Mr. Furmans website.
  • Check the assignment calendar and handout box in
    the room.
  • Ask a classmate.

Textbooks
  • The textbook under your seat is a classroom set,
    and is not to leave the room.
  • Later in the year you will be able to look at
    your textbook online.
  • These are new books, if you deface them in any
    way, you will be paying to replace it. (70.00)

Grading
  • Quizzes, projects, and simulations make up the
    largest part of your grade
  • The rest of your overall grade will be Practice
    assignments (homework). Practice assignments are
    meant to prepare you for major assignments
    (quizzes, tests, projects, simulations) and you
    are expected to give your best effort in
    completing them.

Grading
  • At the end of each chapter section you will have
    a quiz. The date of the quiz will vary, they
    will not always be on Friday.
  • These quizzes will get longer each week, as they
    will not only test new information but will
    review prior information, too.
  • You will also be given unit test which will also
    contain information from previous quizzes and
    test.

Homework
  • Your daily objective questions are your homework
    most nights
  • Practice assignments will be completed and
    checked in class whenever possible

Late Work
  • Students are encouraged to make up any practice
    assignments they missed prior to being assessed-
    No points will be taken away
  • Projects will be marked down one letter grade for
    each day they are late
  •

Academic Misconduct (cheating)
  •     Any student caught cheating, plagiarizing,
    giving or getting unauthorized assistance from
    another student, or gaining information about any
    assignment ahead of time will receive a zero for
    that assignment and parent(s) will be contacted.
    In addition to this, the student could also
    receive an office referral to be placed in
    his/her permanent school record.
