• Discussed Items
• NGN recommended as a new work area of high
  potential Ubiquitous networking security,
  application platforms and service requirements
  are suggested fields under NGN. Recommended a
  regional NGN Workshop during the 8th ASTAP
  meeting period. gt NGN Workshop be held during
  the 8th ASTAP
• Promotion of industry participationsuggested
  that Standardization based on high interest of
  industry should be considered to promote the
  participation of the industry. Also adaptation of
  already developed conventional technologies for
  developing countries was suggested as a potential
  work area to bring cost effective methods. gt
  should be discussed again in the 8th ASTAP
• Additional potential work items
• User-friendly products and services
• E-Government projects
• Internet-based services

Vision and Mission of IRG

• As a regional standard body, ASTAP should have
  more close relationships with international
  standard body, ITU
• List up ITU Study Groups closely related with
  ASTAP
• Investigate delegates of Asia Pacific countries
  who attend SGs related with ASTAP
• link appropriate ASTAP Expert Groups with ITU
  SGs/WGs
• Assign an ASTAP(or APT) coordinator between ITU
  SG and ASTAP EG.
• Report annually coordinators activities
• Promotion of ASTAP activities
• Lead to find interest areas for
  manufacturers/operators /academia
• One or two day seminar to promote participation
  from the small industry members
• ASTAP seminar in conjunction with other bodies
  seminar

Strategic plan of ASTAP

• Internal refinement needed
• Its being done in ASTAP Strategic Plan Task
  Group by Mr. Jongbong Park. IRG should cooperate
  with SPTG.
• To promote members interest, IRG needs prepare a
  market related report containing ASTAP EGs
  activities
• External Relationship
• ASTAP EG should specify  related external(
  international/ regional) standards meeting and
  assign liaison rapporteurs to those meetings
