  • OUR SOLAR SYSTEM

Introduction
  • You are preparing for a mission to outer
    space. Your job as an astronaut will be to gather
    information about your destination planet as
    well as your journey there and what you may come
    across during the journey. Your space ship is
    only equipped with enough food and oxygen for one
    person. This is a solo flight, but Mission
    Control is expecting a report to share with the
    other explorers throughout the solar system.

Check List
  • You are now ready to start collecting data about
    the Journey to your destination. Remember, only
    make notes.
  • To do your research, click on one of the Web Site
    links for information that are under the
    different pictures. Read the information and make
    your notes under the correct headings on your
    data collection sheets for pre-flight check offs.
  • When you have finished reading the first Web
    Site, view another Web site link. Read the
    information and decide if there is any new
    information that should be added to your data
    collection pre-flight Click to go to the next
    slide and start taking notes.

Blast Off
  • Now that you have completed your Pre-Flight check
    list you are ready to Blast Off!
  • Begin by getting out the Blast Off data
    collection sheets.
  • Those sheets contain the information you will be
    expected to find while you are en-route to your
    destination planet.
  • The next page contains the different
    destinations. Click on your destination that
    Mission Control has assigned you and begin your
    research. Remember, only take notes.

Exploration
  • Congratulations!!! Youve made it in one piece to
    your destination.
  • Now that youre here, you need to gather
    information about your destination.
  • First get your destination Exploration Data sheet
    out.
  • This sheet covers information that you will be
    able to answer while exploring.
  • The next page has links to different sites, be
    sure to take notes and gather all the information
    needed.

Destination Links Check in with Mission Control
when this part of your mission has been completed.

Your Trip Back
  • Now that youve finished collecting all your
    data you can head back to planet Earth. On your
    way back you need to put together all the
    information you gathered into a report to share
    with Mission Control. When you get back from the
    trip, Mission Control will expect a completed
    written report.

Mission Report
  • There will be three separate paragraphs in your
    report.
  • The first paragraph is about the data you
    collected during your pre-flight check off. Make
    sure you use all the data you collected.
  • The second paragraph will contain the data you
    collected during Blast Off.
  • The Third paragraph contains data that you
    collected during your destination exploration.
  • When you are writing your report be sure to
    include all the data you collected. Also make
    sure you write in complete sentences using
    correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Your report needs to include a good introduction
    and conclusion.
  • Check in with Mission Control when this part of
    your mission has been completed.

Presentation
  • For your presentation to your fellow explorers,
    you need to have a visual representation of your
    destination.
  • Your visual must be 3 dimensional
  • It must look visually alike to your destination.
  • It must be made by you, during the school day.
  • Your model must be approximate to scale according
    to Mission control.
  • Check in with Mission Control when this part of
    your mission has been completed.
