What is coaching?Why use it?

• Coaching is the belief that everyone has the
  answer to their own problems if you ask them the
  right questions.
• Coaching is trying not to give the Coachee the
  answer- to make the Coachee think for themselves.
• Coaching is a two way process.
• To make our young people think for themselves
  instead of relying on us!

• Students please talk with your parents about what
  they have done been doing today.
• Each time they say yes or no take away one of
  their beans.
• Parents How does this make you feel?

• Now students take a real interest in what your
  parents say.
• Parents every time they ask you a really good
  question that makes you think about the answer
  give them a bean.
• How does that make you feel?

When you get stuck..

• Ask questions to help them
• Strengths focus on what can be done
• Targets Set them and ask questions to explore
  how they can achieve a target.
• Real situation what's stopping you achieving this
  target.
• Ideas What can you do to get over the problem?
• Decision What one thing are you going to get done
  from the ideas youve come up with?
• Evaluation ask about the targets and follow up on
  the problem.
