Project Description

• For CEE 3224, Transportation Facilities Design,
  our students spent six weeks creating designs for
  functional areas of driveways and the adjoining
  intersection for an anonymous shopping mall
  development.
• Students worked in two person teams 8 of the 13
  designs are presented here
• Inputs included Microstation files and projected
  traffic volumes

Project Design

• Students identified project constraints and
  design considerations
• Students used their engineering judgment, the
  AASHTO Green Book, PennDOT design manuals, and
  the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices to
  document their designs
• Designs included travel lanes and shoulders,
  signage and channelization, and a cost estimate
  for their plans
