6Vocabulary
- Blog - A web log. Like a diary, usually a series
of personal accounts or reflections often on a
particular subect or topic. Usually comment-able
by readers. - Wiki - A medium which can be edited by anyone
with access to it, and provides an easy method
for linking from one page to another. Wikis are
typically collaborative websites. - Folksonomy - the practice and method of
collaboratively creating and managing tags to
annotate and categorize content. In contrast to
traditional subject indexing, metadata is not
only generated by experts but also by creators
and consumers of the content.
7Web 2.0 Social Networking
- From Wikipedia -
- Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation
of web-based communities and hosted services
such as social-networking sites, wikis and
folksonomies which aim to facilitate
collaboration and sharing between users. - A social network service focuses on the building
and verifying of online social networks for
communities of people who share interests and
activities, or who are interested in exploring
the interests and activities of others, and which
necessitates the use of software.
8Social Networking
- Most social network services are primarily web
based andprovide a collection of various ways
for users to interact, such as chat, messaging,
email, video, voice chat, file sharing, blogging,
discussion groups, and so on. - The main types of social networking services are
those which contain directories of some
categories (such as former classmates), means to
connect with friends (usually with
self-description pages), and recommender systems
linked to trust. Popular methods now combine
many of these, with MySpace, Bebo and Facebook
being the mostly widely used in 2007.
9Content Generation
- Organization- generated
- - Professional, Production Values
- - Often scripted/pre-planned in detail

workers - - Issue-focused, event-specific
