My Life With Inclusion Glasgow

• My Name is Hughie I am 43 years old
• I have been in care until I was 33yrs old,
  spending 15yrs in Lennox Castle

Leaving Lennox Castle

• Eventually Inclusion Glasgow were asked to help
  me to leave
• I moved to my own home in the community with 24
  hr support

The Big Crisis

• I had a team leader who didnt listen to me or
  understand me. I got angry at him one night and I
  smashed his car and he left me in the middle of
  the night
• Frances was on call for Inclusion and came to
  look for me with Liz
• I was scared to be found in case I would get sent
  somewhere or punished this is what happened in
  the past.

• My team leader left and I felt abandoned
• People in the team were scared to work on their
  own with me, they wanted to work together
• Liz said she wasnt frightened and this showed
  others it was ok (even me) Liz became my Team
  Leader and stayed with me for 8 years until she
  became my Service Manager
• I now have Joanne who is my new Team Leader.

Learning to take Control

• Inclusion Glasgows on call used to come out when
  I was upset/angry
• They realised this made things worse and I was
  upset for longer
• They stopped coming out, Liz became my on call,
  she would talk to me on the phone and reassure
  me.
• I realised I could take control and calm myself
  down.

• I ignored the Devil on my shoulder and I listened
  to my guardian angel

What is my life like now

• I only get 30 hours of support a week including
  on call
• I have found my sister and she is a big my life
  now
• I attended a Drama course at Reid Kerr College

• I played a part in the Three Penny Opera
• I sometimes play in a band
• I am in I.G. Panto
• I speak regularly at conferences
• I have made my own record
• I paint
• I have a yellow Belt in Tae Kwon Do

10 years in the community

• Ive just had a big party
• I have flown a plane
• Im in the social group (I help with organizing
  parties)
• I go on holiday to Craig Tara on my own

• I want to get married and settle down and have
  children of my own
