New Orleans East. The efforts of over 40
volunteers resulted in the re-building of a - neighborhood baseball field and the
refurbishment of the playgrounds facilities.

4East Shore Playground
- East Shore Playground is located at 14600 Curran
Blvd. in the Little Woods neighborhood of New
Orleans East. Pre-Katrina, it was home to over 3
acres of green space, including a playground, a
basketball court and 2 baseball diamonds. - As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Little
Woods neighborhood suffered severe flood damage
with water reaching as high as 6-8 feet
throughout the area. Not one home was spared from
major damage and all of the recreational space
that East Shore Playground provided was quickly
destroyed by toxic floodwater. The park had
undergone no maintenance since before the storm
in 2005, and all of its playing fields were
overgrown and unusable as of May 2008.
