• Only Masjid in area serving over 150 registered
  families with an estimated total of 2000-3000
  Muslims in greater Albuquerque area (includes Rio
  Rancho, Los Lunas, East Mountain communities)
• 300-400 congregants for Friday Jummah services
• 800-1000 congregants for Eid prayer
• Original Islamic Center of NM established in 1986
• Population has quadrupled in 20 years

Islamic Center Activities

• Bi-weekly sponsorship of Project Share (soup
  kitchen)
• Islamic Sunday School
• Islamic Forum of NM - Weekly, hour-long program
  about Islam on local public access channel Active
  Prison Program
• Close connection with Salam Academy (local,
  full-time Islamic elementary and mid-school with
  almost 100 students)
• Collaboration with local University of NM MSA
  Chapter
• Active Public Relations participation with
  inter-faith as well as local, state, and federal
  government agencies

Why We Decided to Build a New Masjid

• Need for additional space for weekly Jummah
  services and weekly Islamic Sunday School as well
  as for Eid prayers and other community gatherings
• Need for facilities to perform ghusl for funeral
  preparations
• Need for hang-out spot for youth and college
  students
• Need for extra office, storage, and meeting space

• Mens Prayer Hall 3,500 sq ft
• Womens Prayer Hall 1,870 sq ft

  areas, and additional office areas
• Area A 1,665 sq-ft Area B 1,160 sq. ft
