What Is Concrete Common?

• Concrete Common
• Referring to a material object or specific
  tangible detail.
• Or events that are available to the sense such as
  taste, hear, smell, and touch.
• A concrete describe a specific detail that a
  reader can easily visualize or imagine.

Examples of Concrete Noun

• Most nouns are concrete nouns such as
• Dog
• Student
• Pencil
• Box
• Desk
• Teacher
• Table

• Examples
• My ice melted in the sun.
• Darrels kitten tore apart the yarn.
• Thunder rattle our windows.
• Reliable, Diane dog , licked the strawberry ice
  cream off her chin.

How Concrete Noun are used

• Concrete common nouns are used as the subject of
  the sentence.
• Examples
• The Judge handed the files to the clerk.
• Whenever they take the dog to the beach, it
  spends hours chasing waves.
• The real estate agent urged the couple to buy the
  second house because it had new shingles.
• The book binder replaced the flimsy paper cover
  with a sturdy, cloth-covered board.

Direct Object

• The direct object is the noun that receives the
  action of the transitive verb.
• Examples
• After dinner, Matthew always serve a cake.
• To the average citizen, politics offers
  considerable frustration.
• Christine discovered a pile of books hidden under
  the staircase.

Indirect Object

• Concrete nouns can also be use in Indirect
  object.
• Examples
• She sent the letter to James.
• Indirect object James.
• They made dinner for him.
• Indirect object him
• No direct object

Predicate Nominative

• Predictive nominative is when the subject of a
  sentence is renamed.
• Example
• He is an idiot.
• (The idiot is the predicate noun.)
• Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister.
• (Margaret Thatcher is the subject and Prime
  Minister is the predicate noun.)

Predicate Nominative (con.)

• Typically, a predicate nominative has the same
  value or grammatical weight as the subject.
• Examples
• At the end of the tournament, Tiger Woods was
  thee leader.
• For many of us on the team, the fans were an
  embarrassment.
• When the plot is discovered, Andrea will be a
  suspect.
• Before the announcement, they were the favorite
  to win the contest.

Remember!!!!

• Not all nouns are concrete.
• Dont confuse a concrete noun with an abstract
  noun.
• Abstract noun is a noun which anything which you
  can not perceive through your five physical
  senses, and is the opposite of a concrete noun.
• Concrete noun is the opposite of an abstract
  noun.
• Most nouns are concrete nouns.
