Project recommendations
  • Local 14-19 partnerships and HE should make
    contact at an early stage in developments.
  • HEIs need to recognise role of FECs
  • Individual HE providers could ensure direct
    contact with LEA 14-19 developments at Executive
    level and/or in forums with Deans of Faculties
    through their established outreach staff/school
    partnerships.
  • 14-19 partnerships should recognise that HE staff
    are willing to open up resources for sharing and
    have specialised knowledge on the Diploma
    contents which could be beneficial to local
    providers.
  • HE providers should identify named individuals
    for consortia to communicate with.
  • HEIs/14-19 partnerships should share appropriate
    links (esp. employers)
  • Target markets for some Foundation Degrees may
    need to be revisited.

How has the project influenced Higher York?
  • Reorganised Health and Social Care Group to
    better match the SHD diploma and used the
    grouping organised for the Diploma project.
  • Introduced the Diplomas to all curriculum groups
  • More work with schools, 14 -19 partnerships
  • Admissions Forum (HE Admissions staff and diploma
    delivery partners)
  • Agreed a generic statement for HY about the
    acceptability of diplomas
  • Specific progression route to degree programme
    (progression agreement)
