Severe Need Breakfast Assistance

• A building can qualify for Severe Need Breakfast
  if they had 40 or more participation in lunch of
  their free reduced price eligible students two
  years prior to the current year.
• Qualifying for Severe Need Breakfast equates to
  additional funding for each breakfast served.
  This year, the severe need rate was 1.47,
  compared to 1.23 for a free breakfast.

Severe Need Breakfast Assistance

• The Reauthorization provides for a waiver of the
  second preceding year participation in lunch for
  certain new schools that would meet the
  requirement otherwise at the Secretary of
  Agriculture discretion.
• Removes the requirement to document severe need
  costs to justify reimbursements
• Schools will receive the severe need breakfast
  rate as long as they meet the 40 participation
  in lunch of free/reduced eligible students.
