    Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Strategies
  • Significant infrastructure investments address
    capacity and reduce congestion

    assessed
  • Performance Table established to bring together
    private sector views
  • Inclusive of major industry stakeholders
  • Federal/provincial government observers
  • Focus on long-term competitiveness

Objectives of Gateway Performance Table
  • Position the Asia-Pacific Gateway for the future
    build common outlook
  • Efficiency and productivity gap analysis could
    lead to measures that optimize capacity of
    existing facilities
  • High level of commitment to international trading
    partners
  • Discussion and research of operational matters
    that are of an integrated nature
  • Under responsibility/jurisdiction of multiple
    organizations

Scope of Performance Table
  • Strategic vision of the Asia-Pacific Gateway to
    2020
  • Identify and prioritize performance gaps with the
    Asia-Pacific Gateway
  • Formulate areas of analysis to address
    performance gaps
  • Measure performance of the Asia-Pacific Gateway
    over time

Current Status
  • Launched in July 2008 by former Minister of
    Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and
    former Minister Responsible for the Asia-Pacific
    Gateway
  • Initial meeting in December 2008 provided
    opportunity for visioning of Gateway to 2020
  • Performance Table members have undertaken a
    Strength/Weakness/Opportunity/Threat analysis of
    the Gateways competitive advantage
  • At meetings in February and April 2009,
    Performance Table agreed to establishment and
    mandates of 3 sub-groups
  • People
  • Performance/Competitiveness
  • Operations/Integration

Next Steps
  • Sub-groups to pursue research and analytical work
    to December 2009
  • Reports from sub-groups submitted to full Table
  • Consolidation of sub-group work into Final
    Performance Table Report
  • Submit to Ministers
