• We are excited to have new members join our
  association.
• We are sad to see NASA leave but wish them much
  success
• We realize some people really wanted to come to
  McKnight while others wished to remain with
  Symons Valley
• The change will be as good as we all make it

History

• In 2008/2009 we consisted of 4 boards
• Each board registers its own kids, has its own
  volunteer commitments, has its own way of
  subsidizing its hockey program, and charges its
  own fees.
• Each board has 3 representatives which sit on the
  McKnight Hockey Board to run the hockey program.
• McKnight hockey board makes all decisions
  pertaining to how our hockey program is run.
• Confederation Hockey Council (CHC), Thorncliffe,
  NASA, CNC.
• Each board brings ice from their perspective
  arenas based on a set formula based on the number
  of players they have registered. NASA brings
  their required ice from the city pool.

Present

• NASA has gone to PSA, therefore 191 players have
  left our association.
• We are anticipating 225-250 new members from the
  Harvest Hills, Country Hills, McEwan , and
  Sandstone areas to be part of McKnight.
• All players in Timbits, Novice, Atom, PeeWee and
  Bantam players from this area are now part of
  McKnight and must register as such
• Midget players (1994 and up) may remain in Symons
  Valley. If midget players from this area wish to
  register with McKnight they are permitted to do
  so
• We currently have our 3 boards under the umbrella
  of McKnight Hockey
• We have left room for our new members to be a
  contributing part of our association.
• For the purpose of communication I will call them
  McKnight links.
• There is the possibility for 3 board members to
  sit on the McKnight Hockey board from McKnight
  Links. Each association will have determined
  fees. (Fees to be shown later in the document)

Future

• There has been much discussion around making
  these 4 boards one.
• It is one of a few real possibilities for the
  2010/2011 season.
• The current board could have made decisions and
  proceeded quickly.
• However, we opted to wait and involve our new
  members in this decision making progress..
• As a board we felt that we could give it the time
  and attention it needs and focus on the kids i.e.
  evaluations, coach selection, teams, etc
• Another possibility is helping McKnight Links to
  become its own board. Again nothing is final and
  we will take the upcoming year to come to
  decisions together.

Ice Allocation and Rinks

• West Mount Pleasant Arena
• Thorncliffe Forbes Innes Arena
• Huntington Hills Arena
• Each rink gives us ice based on our registrations
  in that neighborhood based on by-laws
• We dont know if Hockey Calgary will be
  supplementing our ice but we will be pushing for
  it

• We welcome and encourage volunteers to sign up
  and get involved
• Please dont wait because you are new
• We need evaluators, coaches, coordinators
• WE DESPERATLEY NEED AN ICE SCHEDULER
• 3 board positions open
• Vice President is a possible position
• Division coordinators are needed

Evaluations

• We take evaluators from volunteers
• We have 2 people who oversee the entire
  evaluation process and then 2 Head Evaluators at
  each level and then a team of evaluators
• We begin with some conditioning skates the
  week/days before evaluations to give equal
  opportunities to players

• Fees are based on the following factors what you
  paid at Symons Valley, the lack of bingos/casinos
  to subsidize, anticipated costs, there is a risk
  we are over charging because we dont know how
  much ice we will have yet, however there is an
  equal risk we are undercharging

Mission Statement

• Our Mission is to provide participants in our
  hockey program with affordable, fair and
  competitive hockey experience that focuses on the
  development of individual and team hockey skills,
  the practice of good sportsmanship and fair play
  and the opportunity to be challenged while having
  fun.
• At McKnight Hockey our goal is to involve your
  child in a program that fosters teamwork, skill
  development and enjoyment of the game
