Golden Rules of Installation
  • The mini-weather station is recommended to be
installed in an open area that is level and clear
of trees, buildings or any other obstructions in
order to obtain optimum result. It should also be
kept away from direct influencing heat sources
such as air-con compressor exhaust from waiting
    vehicles.
  • DO NOT place the mini-weather station near
falling rocks, dying/dead trees, or objects that
could fall onto the mini-weather station.
  • If the mini-weather station is to be installed
inside a fence to discourage vandalism, the top
of the fencing should be lower than the wind
    sensors.
  • DO NOT install the mini-weather station on
television antenna. Most television antenna are
not designed for heavy wind loads. The surface
area of the mini-weather station may create a
significant wind load during high wind and damage
    the TV antenna.

Golden Rules of Installation
  • If using stakes to stabilize the tripod of the
weather station on the ground, ensure that there
are no underground wires or pipes under the
    mini-weather station.
  • DO NOT install the system during any atmospheric
electrical activity. Similarly DO NOT approach
the weather station to retrieve data or for other
activities any time during bad weather.
  • Students should be under an adult supervision (by
a school staff) when tasked to retrieve data
especially for those weather stations mounted on
    the roof.
  • No horseplay or any other inappropriate/dangerous
activity when in the vicinity of the weather
    station.
  • DO NOT climb onto the mini-weather station
tripod. The weather station and any of its
associated hardware, mountings and poles etc are
not designed to support the weight of a person.
    Injury may result.
  • If school is relocating the mini-weather station,
before installing the tripod or mounting poles,
ensure that the golden rules of installation are
adhered to and that there are no electrical power
lines overhead. Use only appropriate tools to
remove the mini-weather station base from the
    pole or tripod.
