• Recently, I was asked what the three most
  important features KanREN has to offer
• Without hesitation, any one of us would answer

Web Hosting

• Dont let your sites bandwidth be consumedlet
  ours!
• Sites hosted by KanREN are served from our
  Lawrence POP
• Support for CGI, PHP, and MySQL
• Backed-up nightly
• Currently, there are NO space limitations

• We are DNS experts!
• If you have a DNS server on site, we can be your
  secondary
• If you do not have a DNS server but want to own a
  domain, we can handle it for you

A Quality Day in the Neighborhood

• Some applications need service guarantees
• For example, you may need to guarantee that video
  conferencing will work without any lightening or
  other hiccups
• You may also need to guarantee that Kazaa will
  NOT work ?

Traffic Analysis

  site router (Cisco 26xx and 17xx)
• By using protocol discovery from remote, we can
  help you track down where the larger portions of
  your bandwidth are going and help determine the
  best method to properly manage bandwidth

Ethernet Transport

• Beginning in FY2005, direct xEthernet connections
  to our backbone will be available for some sites
• Service provided by Cox Communications
• Basically, xEthernet will be used to connect your
  site router to a POP
• Major cost reduction for higher bandwidth
  connections

Wireless

• There are many components that make wireless
  attractive
• Cost, bandwidth, management
• There are a few components that make wireless a
  risk
• Reliability, MTTR
• KanREN will be working with several wireless
  providers in the hopes that we may find a
  technology we feel comfortable making available
  to our member sites

• KanREN is a Layer 3 Peering Partner
• We operate as both a consortium and a local
  provider just as any other consortium or local
  provider
