Federal Equal EmploymentOpportunity Laws

• Equal Pay Act of 1963
• Protects men and women who perform substantially
  equal work in the same establishment for
  sex-based wage discrimination.
• Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
• Prohibits employment discrimination based on
  race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
• Executive Order 11246 of 1965
• Requires federal contractors to take affirmative
  action to insure that equal employment is
  provided in all aspects of their employment.
• Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
• Protects individuals who are 40 years of age or
  older.
• Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
• Prohibits sex discrimination in education
  programs that receive federal funds, and
  increased athletic opportunities for females in
  schools and colleges.
