Clinical Faculty Promotion Review Schedule
  • Clinical Instructor
  • Appointment term 1, 2, or 3 years, renewable
    review for promotion occurs anytime
  • Clinical Assistant Professor
  • Appointment term 3 years, renewable review
    occurs every 3 years
  • Clinical Associate Professor
  • Appointment term 5 years, renewable review
    occurs every 5 years
  • Clinical Professor
  • Appointment term 10 years, renewable

Teaching Documentation required for Review
  • in each field of teaching (i.e. Undergrad MD,
    Residents, Graduate Students, CME, etc.)
  • a summary of student ratings, with comparison to
    departmental means and explanations of ratings
    scales used
  • a summary of peer ratings, comparisons to
    departmental means, and explanations of rating
    scales
  • brief narrative comments on quality and scope of
    teaching. Comments on time trends of improvement
    or explanations of any low ratings are very
    helpful.
