2This has happened simultaneously...
I like to pretend Im an artist.
I like zombies.
3TO AWESOME EFFECT!
Whoa.
4Ive liked zombies approximately forever. My
interest exploded, however, at the University
of Minnesota while doing intensive, theoretical
zombie study in a Cultural Studies class
called Monsters, Robots and Cyborgs.
5FACT! Meg is still paying off her undergrad
tuition loans!
- FACT! Zombies eat brains.
- FACT! Zombies are easy to kill but difficult
to - completely eradicate.
- FACT! Zombies become disgustingly fascinating
- when analyzed in terms of
- Individuality versus conformity and mob
mentality - Marxism and consumerist society
- Haitian zombies versus Hollywood renditions of
- the undead
-
-
Ha ha!
6Shut it,
little friends.
PowerPoint
is happening.
On to the art!
7In October 2005 I took this photo of my friends
Claudia and Ken.
8That winter I took a class in printmaking.
With the help of Photoshop, patience and some
highly caffeinated beverages, Ken from the
photograph became
ZOMBIKEN!
This screenprint is a crazy neat 12.125 x 22.5
inches!
9Why were your friends dressed like zombies?
Ooo!
Cool!
10Im glad you asked!
Minneapolis is home to an annual zombie pub
crawl. Every autumn in Logan Park, ordinary
people transform into zombies with irresistible
cravings for brains and beer. To satisfy these
urges, everyone shambles from bar to bar,
attacking humans and hops.
The first crawl in 2005 had over
100 traffic-stopping, pedestrian-shocking, buildi
ng code-violating, bleeding, puking zombies! The
2006 crawl had 350!

11Minneapolis filmmaker Jeremy Wilker made a
short movie about the first crawl. Im briefly
shown arranging my leaf-ridden hair and looking
deadly.
