What is a House and Pod?
  • LTHS Houses and Pods are small, randomly
    generated student groups designed to help create
    small social networks that ensure students are
    connected to school and foster camaraderie and
    Esprit de corps among students. They are
    designed to enhance the school experience and
    provide a foundation for connecting ALL students
    to the campus in a positive way thru
    student-based (peer) leadership.
  • Houses are not curriculum based cohorts (where
    students all have the same teachers and same
    class schedule. Students will still have classes
    and electives with exposure to all LTHS students.

  • Each houses will have 125 ninth graders
  • Houses will be divided up into 5 Pods of 25
    students
  • Each Pod will be lead by two HS Team IMPACT
    student leaders (juniors).

Whats the dealio with these house and pod
thingies anyway?
  • Increases involvement and connections
  • Creates a smaller-campus feel as LTHS starts
    getting bigger.
  • Creates small, manageable, flexible, organized
    groups (Pods) that help us do complex activities
    (like ropes training).
  • Facilitates communication and student input on
    important school issues
  • Promote Esprit de Corp and fun!

What types of activities might we do in our
Houses/Pods?
  • Ropes course training
  • Field trips
  • Inter-house competitions and contests (athletic,
    academic, ridiculous)
  • Leadership Councils and student govt.
  • Create Cav-cast presentations
  • Participate in leadership training activities
  • Create activities to connect new students within
    the pod

Building Connections
  • Individual Houses will have one monthly activity
  • Team IMPACT Leaders will meet with their Pods
    during designated Go-Times
  • Team IMPACT will also meet with members of their
    Pods during lunches or before/after school.

My child is worried that they wont see their
friends?
  • Answer Houses are not curriculum based cohorts
