Mohandas Gandhi
  • Mohandas Gandhi was one of the greatest spiritual
and political leaders of the twentieth century.
He is honored by the people as the "Father of
Modern India." He was the primary leader of a
bloodless revolution that freed India from the
control of Great Britain.  The people of India
gave Mohandas the loving nickname of Mahatma
which stands for Great Soul. His entire life was
guided by a search for the truth. He believed
truth could only be known through tolerance and
concern for others. He believed with all his
heart in non-violent solutions to problems and
    that true non-violence requires tremendous
    courage.

The Mahatma feeds a woman who was fasting for
24 days for the return of the sacrificial swords
stolen from a temple.
