12 Isolation
- 60 of the total energy we use in our households
is used for heating. While 5,5-5,8kg insulator is
used in the countries of the EU individually a
year, we use only 1,2kg in Hungary. Though
insulating materials are only cost 10 of the
whole cost of a construction, Hungarian builders
are tend to save on it, despite the fact, that it
would be repaid in a few years. The most
important thing would be the isolation of the
roofs, as hot air usually goes up, so in those
houses in which there is no isolation, 60 of the
heat goes out through the roof.

16 Some useful tips how to cut back on energy
consumption in your house
17- Switch your thermostal 1 degree lower!
- Install hollow wall-isolation!
- Isolate the attic!
- Energy-saving lightning
- Heating and hot water
- Energy-saving washing products
- Buy products with ESR signal/logo
- Dont use more hot water you need!
- Dont use cars for short trips!
- Dont leave TV, DVD player etc. switched on!
- Double coating, secondary glazing
- Correction of the cover
- Isolation of the floor
- for smaller ice cubes
- Isolation of the container and the tube
18Some crumbs how to save energy
- Should the surface of the electric store be
smaller or bigger than the bottom of the saucepan
you put it on? - Is dirty oven able to reflect less or more heat?
- Is it necessary to switch off the oven before our
meal is ready? - Why cant we put hot meal into the fridge?
- Why is it bad if our refrigerator is iced?
- What is useful to visit before buying a fridge?
- Why is it useful to empty the dustbag of the
hoover before using it?
19Questionnaire (1-3)
- When was your house built and from what kind of
material? - a. from traditional material before 1994
- b. after 1994 according to the regulations
- c. I dont know
-
- Have you ever done any thermal isolation works on
your estate? - a. yes
- b. no
- c. I didnt feel the need o fit
- d. I didnt have the possibility
- How do you produce hot water?
- a. with the help of gas
- b. with the help of electricity ( night tariff)
- c. PB gas
- d. in a mixed way
-
20The result of questionnaire
- We answered 100 family.
- 75 of families answered that their house was
built from traditional material before 1994 - 56 of families have done some thermal isolation
works on their estate - 44 of families produce hot water with the help
of gas
21Questionnaire (4-6)
- What do you heat with during the heating-season?
- a. wood
- b. natural gas
- c. electricity
- d. oil
- Do you use renewing energy sources in order to
save - energy?
- a. yes
- b. no
- c. what is that?
- Are you interested in the rational energy
utilization? - a. yes
- b. no
- c. Ill be interested in it
22The result of questionnaire
- 56 of families heat with natural gas during the
heating-season - 93 do not use renewing energy sources in order
to save energy - 68 of families are you interested in the
rational energy utilization

24 Higher capacity
- Floor-heating systems are only able to
exotherming 80-100W/m, because the temperature of
the floor can only be 29 degree, because of the
sensitivity of our feet and health reasons. - At the same time, by using wall heating, 45-50C
degree hot water circulates in the 6mms outer
diameter polyethylene tube. - Thats why the surface temperature of the wall
is much higher ( 38-40C), so the 200-240W/m
exotherminity can also be guaranteed.
25Wall-heating systems and thermo pump
26Energy-saving
- The opportunity to reduce the temperature with
the help of the wall heating means 12-15
energy-saving. Moreover as the temperature of the
air in the room is much more equal in vertical
direction than in the case of the convectional
heating, the further saving is about 5-8. - The regulation is much quicker compared to the
floor heating, which also means 5 saving.
Despite the fact that by heating the outer walls
there is heat loss into the outer space, in
total, we use less energy.
27The compact flourescent tubes and traditional bulb
28Do you know that light intensity is not in equal
with the power?
- The radiance of a 100W bulb is exactly the same
as 6 pieces of 25W bulbs, so using a
many-branched chandelier is an energy-wasting
method. The compact flourescent tubes have come
to the place of the traditional bulb. This
compact fluorescant tube is a bended tube. It can
be used instead of the traditional bulb, moreover
it saves 80 energy inspite the fact that it
radiances the same quality of lightning. Its
length of life is 8-10 times longer. -
- The heater filament bulbs change the 90 of the
adopted amount of energy into heat, and only 10
is devoted to the radiation of light. They are
rather used for heating, not for lightning.
Despite, the compact flourescent tubes change 50
of the adopted energy to light. That is why a 20W
compact tube radiates the same light as a 100W
bulb with heater filament.

30The project was successful because the families
who were participants in this job saved one-third
energy.
