  • Ammonium Ion

4
2. What is the name of CaSO4
  • Calcium sulfate

5
3. What is the name of NaHCO3
  • Sodium bicarbonate

6
4. What is the formula for potassium
permanganate?
  • KMnO4

7
5. What is the formula for aluminum perchlorate?
  • Al(ClO4)3

8
6. What is the formula for Magnesium dichromate?
  • MgCr2O7

9
7. What is the formula for Sodium nitrite?
  • NaNO2

10
8. What is the name of LiClO?
  • Lithium hypochlorite

11
9. What is the name of SrCN?
  • Strontium cyanide

12
10. What is the name of CuCO3?
  • Copper (II) carbonate or Cupric carbonate.

13
11. What is the name of AgNO3?
  • Silver nitrate.

14
12. What is the name of Pb3(PO4)4?
  • Lead (IV) phosphate or Plumbic phosphate.

15
13. What is the formula for the acetate ion?
  • C2H3O2

16
14. What is the name of Mg(SCN)2?
  • Magnesium thiocyanate.

17
15. What is the name of FeSO4?
  • Iron (II) sulfate or Ferrous sulfate

18
16. What is the formula for Ferric oxide?
  • Fe2O3

19
17. What is the name of Ca(OH)2?
  • Calcium hydroxide.

20
18. What is the name of K2CrO4?
  • Potassium chromate.

21
19. If I gave you BrO-, BrO2-, BrO3-, and BrO4-,
HOW would you know how to name them?
  • You would first recognize the number of oxygen
    present in each formula.
  • Remember the less oxygen that is present the
name will end in ite, the more oxygen that is
present the name will end in ate.
  • If there is only 1 oxygen, then hypo- goes in
front of the name. If there are 4 oxygens, then
per- goes in front of the name.

So BrO- hypobromite, BrO2- bromite,
BrO3- bromate and BrO4- perbromate.
22
20. Practice those formulas and names with a
partner.
  • YOU WILL SEE A QUIZ ON THESE THIS WEEK.. BUT YOU
    WONT BE TOLD WHEN.
