• Design Day September 26, 2008
• Huge brainstorming session at Hopewell Elementary
• John Dean from Leathers
• Met with each class
• Looked at kids' drawings from elementary schools
• Read essays from Timberlane students
• Drew playground schematics
• Presented designs at evening celebration

What's the Cost?

• For materials, designs, and management consulting
  fees of TWO playgrounds 109,000
• Labor is all volunteer!
• Generous donations of materials reduce costs
• Donations are tax-deductible

What Does Community-Built Mean?

• An old-fashioned barn raising
• All ages and skill levels work side-by-side
• Leathers volunteer captains oversee quality and
  provide guidance leadership
• 750 volunteers needed

When to Build?

• June 17-21, 2009 (rain or shine)?
• Food and child care provided
• Daily construction schedule is divided into 3
  1/2- or 4- hour shifts
