DOCUMENTS NEEDED
  • Before coming to DMV
  • to take your Learners Permit
  • Test, be sure you can provide
  • the following
  • Certified Birth Certificate (hospital issued
    certificates are not acceptable) or valid
    Passport, in addition to one form of
    identification from the list of acceptable forms
    of identification. Photocopies of documents are
    not acceptable.
  • Proof of residence address. (i.e. post-marked
    envelope addressed to you)
  • Parental consent. (Parent or legal guardian must
    show driver license or acceptable form of
    identification).
  • Photograph a recent passport size photograph
    without headwear or dark glasses. The photo will
    not be returned.
  • 40 for Learners Permit Test fee.

GOING TO DMV
  • With documents in hand, head on down to your
    local DMV full-service office with your parent or
    legal guardian.

NOTE The permit test is given on a walk-in
basisTuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Thursday from 8 a.m. to 430 p.m.
and Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

LICENSING AREA AT DMV
  • At the licensing counter you need to show your
    documents
  • and you will then be given an application to
    complete.
  • REMEMBER
  • Your parent or legal guardian MUST be present to
    provide the
  • parental consent. Let them know they must ALSO
    provide a
  • drivers license and/or some form of acceptable
    identification.

REQUIRED VISION EXAM
Prior to taking the actual learners permit
test you will be required to take and pass a
vision exam. NOTE If you wear eyeglasses or
contacts, you will need to bring them.

TAKING THE LEARNERS PERMIT TEST
All learners permit applicants must pass a 25
question knowledge test. To pass you can only get
5 answers wrong.
Note If you dont pass, you must wait seven
days before retaking the test. You are required
to bring your documents again, have your parent
or legal guardian with you and pay the 40 test
fee.

YOU PASSED YOUR PERMIT TEST!
  • A DMV employee will issue
  • your learners permit and
  • provide you with guidelines for
  • its use.
  • Pay the 18 permit fee
  • You MUST carry your learners permit with you at
    all times while driving.
  • You can only operate a motor vehicle with a
    qualified instructor.

Now you get your learners permit!
