43.Three Specific Goals
The initial target customer of Sucreme is the
mania market, consisting of males in the 18 35
age group. As they initially focus on the mania
market, Sucreme wants to build some type of
on-line community with distinctive appeal to
these target consumers. How should they go about
building such an on-line community? Should they
build their own on-line community site within
their on-line store? Or, should they leverage
existing Web 2.0 technologies like MySpace,
Facebook and Twitter?
Although Sucreme wants to initially focus on the
mania market, they want to eventually reach out
to a broader market including those who buy 1-2
prs of sneakers a year and parents who shop for
their kids. These include the customers who shop
at local discount shoe stores or local sports
gear stores (like Sports Authority). If Sucremes
strategic goal is to expand its on-line appeal to
these regular customers in 3-5 years, how
should they position their on-line store as they
launch it now?
Sucreme is planning to spend 10,000 / month on a
marketing campaign accompanying the launch of
their on-line store. Given its stated goals, what
