4Proposal for Post-polio Cooperation
- Post-polio cooperation is required for emergency
preparedness and response (EPR) following
importation of poliovirus. - Diversify the current support to include control
of measles and elimination of MNT. - Proposal for current support includes polio EPR,
piloting the measles campaign in 2 districts and
MNT campaign in 15 high risk districts. - Total support requested from GoJ US 3.6 million.

7Comparative Advantages / Strengths of GoJ-UNICEF
Collaboration
- An established tri-partite mechanism of
channelling GoJ support that was found to be
effective by a joint learning mission in 2001. - UNICEF leadership role in health and nutrition in
Bangladesh and expertise in the design,
implementation and monitoring of health/nutrition
interventions, and in the procurement of quality
supplies. - UNICEFs involvement in multiple sectoral
programmes (e.g. health, nutrition,
water/sanitation) allows multiple causes of
malnutrition and child mortality to be addressed
simultaneously. - UNICEFs network of field based staff for closely
monitoring the use of GoJ-funded resources.
