FP Server Extensions What are they?

• FrontPage server extensions are a set of
  server-side (CGIs) applications that
• Let multiple users simultaneously collaborate on
  the same Web site and Web Server (Multi-user
  Authoring).

FP Server Extensions What are they?

• Let users write directly to the Web server using
  a PC or laptop computer from anywhere in the
  world via the Internet (Remote Authoring).
• Let users include forms on their Web site and
  specify how the results of those forms are
  handled.

• Let users include discussion Webs on their Web
  site.
• Provide full text search capability on a Web
  site.
• Let users include hit counters on their Web site

FP Server Extensions What are they?

• This "pre-packaged" functionality lets users
  incorporate these advanced features without
  having to write the complex server-side programs
  typically required. FrontPage is the only Web
  creation and management tool that offers all of
  these features.

Can you create an FP sitewithout using the
Extensions?

• Absolutely, with the exception of the
  functionality mentioned above, there is no
  difference between a Web site that uses the
  server extensions and one that does not.
  FrontPage is a great solution for creating and
  managing a Web site with or without the server
  extensions.

What Internet service providers (ISPs) provide
support for FrontPage Server Extensions?

• Many - currently over 600 registered ISPs do
• Ive set up our IIS MS NT Server with FP
  Extensions and I use with our web site --gt search
  capability
• OneDNR which we use for commercial sites is FP
  compatible.

Can I host FP site with ISP that does not have FP
Extensions?

• Yes, many ISPs that do not support the FrontPage
  Server Extensions still host FrontPage Webs.
  These ISPs however, cannot offer support for
  remote authoring, multi-user authoring, or
  FrontPage features such as forms, discussion
  Webs, full-text searches, hit counters or remote
  multi-authoring.

What Web servers do the FP Server Extensions
support?

• FrontPage Server Extensions support all popular
  UNIX and Microsoft Windows NT-based Web servers
  including Microsoft Internet Information Server,
  Apache, CERN, NCSA, Netscape, Linux, SunOS, and
  Solaris.
