Purpose of School Uniforms

• Uniforms will stop other students by being judged
  on how they look.
• Although many people seem to think that uniforms
  will stop students from teasing or judging other
  students, students will still be judged upon
• Hair Styles
• Ethnicities
• Weight
• Background
• Accessories

Saving Parents Money
With mandatory school uniforms for students,
parents will be forced to buy two sets of
clothing for children. One for school (uniform),
and one for after school or weekends. Some
uniforms are cheaply made, therefore forcing
parents to purchase new ones when the old ones
tear or become damaged.

Individuality

• By taking away a students right to dress freely
  and express themselves, one is taking away the
  students individuality. How can students feel
  free to express themselves and identify with a
  certain group or culture if they are all dresses
  alike? Students can not become freestanding
  adults and creative thinkers if they are forced
  to dress like the entire student body.

• Uniqueness
• Self Expression

School Spirit
School administrators seem to think that school
uniforms help in giving students a sense of
school pride.
Studies have shown that students who wear
uniforms are more likely to go home to change
their clothing, than to stay after school and
root for the schools basketball team.

Many schools have made it clear to students that
if the uniform policy isnt followed, students
may face serious consequences. Such consequences

What can a Student do to stop Uniforms?

• Come up with logical reasons why you DONT want
  uniforms
• Write courteous and respectful letters to your
  schools administration or PTA board about your
  opinions
• Circulate a petition around your school as well
  as your community
• Run for school counsel
• Talk to your parents and if they agree, have the
  help you take action
