Introduction...
This slide show will tell you all you need to
know about the 7 main different types of stars in
the universe. On every slide there is a picture
of the star, and some information on the star.
There is also a quiz at the end that you can do
if you want to.

The 7 Main types of Stars...
  • Black Dwarf
  • Brown Dwarf
  • Red Dwarf
  • Yellow Dwarf
  • White Dwarf
  • Red giant
  • Red Supergiant

5
There are 7 main types of stars in the universe.
There names are BLACK DWARF These are stars
that are so old they have no hydrogen fuel left,
and are dark and cold.
6
BROWN DWARFS These are stars that havent
really started yet. They occur when a star dies.
7
RED DWARF These are the most common stars in the
universe. They are very cool when compared to the
other stars. They burn fuel at a very slow rate,
and can live for many billions or trillions of
years.
8
YELLOW DWARFS These stars are moderately bright,
main sequence medium size stars. They live for
about 10 billion years, swell up into red giants
and then collapse into white dwarfs. The sun is a
yellow dwarf.
9
WHITE DWARFS These stars are what are left over
when a star dies and collapses into itself. They
are much hotter than the other dwarf stars. The
sun will become a white dwarf when it dies.
10
RED GIANTS Red giants are relatively cool and
very large, and are created when a medium-sized
star, like our Sun dies.
11
RED SUPERGIANTS Red supergiants are many hundreds
of times larger than the sun, and are formed when
a very big star begins to die. Supergiants die in
a massive explosion called a supernova and then
finally collapse into a neutron star or a black
hole.
