• Government statistics 2829 (HIV ve 2512 AIDS

• UN estimates 70 80,000
• Vulnerable Groups (FSW, MSM, Hijras, IDUs)
• No registered ARV till November 2005
• 5 Centers of Excellence (Punjab, Sindh,
  Balochistan, Frontier and Federal Capital)
• 16 VCT Centers by Government in 4 provinces
• 1 VCT Center by Red Crescent Punjab
• NLACS has four centers in Karachi, Lahore,
  Multan and Rawalpindi
• Pak plus has one center in Lahore

• Viral Load and CD 4 Count
• In Lahore through SKMCRH (Private Hospital with
  the collaboration of CRS)
• In Islamabad through PIMS (Government Hospital
  with the collaboration of CRS)
• General Medicines for OIs at PIMS Islamabad
• Free HIV testing
• Treatment at Shaukat Khanum is sponsored by CRS
  that include medical check- up. Availability of
  ARV is for 50 persons in one year

Drawbacks of Government Treatment Centers

• Lack of Statistical Data
• Lack of specialist Doctors
• Inexperienced doctors at CoE
• Expensive tests
• Non-existence of Care and Support services
• 400-600-800 in three years gradually till 2008
• No media involvement or publicity in order to
  tell a common person for the availability of ART
• Inhumane attitude of the medical staff
