LGEs LCD TVs and Monitors Are Acclaimed in N.
America and Europe
LGEs LCD TVs and monitors were recently
evaluated as the top of the line by famous N.
American and European IT magazines. In a recent
issue product evaluation, the US leading IT
magazine PC gave a 4.5 points to the 47 LCD
Scarlet (model 47LG60) of the total 5 point
score, nominating it as Editor's Choice.
Editor's Choice is granted to the best products
of the line. The magazine acclaimed Scarlet TV
for its modern style, full HD, no ghost images,
and a wide viewing angle. Scarlet also was rated
Very Good for its picture and sound by the
German magazine Video, as well as recommended
for buying (Kauftipp). In early May, the CES 2008
Best Innovation winner Scarlet TV was globally
launched through various channels including the
US Best Buy. The famous Hollywood star-linked
launching campaign drew worldwide attention. The
20 USB monitor (model L206WU), released in
Korea in March, also won PC PRO Lab Winner Award
from the UKs major PC magazine PC Pro. The PC
Pro evaluated 16 products including LG, Dell,
and Philips, and gave the LG Monitor the best
score in seven categories including sensuous
design, picture and response time. LGEs LCD
Monitor, in June, was nominated as the six-time
consecutive Best Monitor Brand by the major
Portuguese IT magazine PC Guia(Guide). The PC
Guia every year selects the top brand in the
monitor category, and the LG Monitor received
the best rating in picture, function, and
convenience of use.
LGE -Siemens Together Develop Air Conditioners
LGE joined hands with Siemens in the commercial
air conditioner category. The German company is
the worlds top electrical and electronics maker
and the global leader in the building management
system field. On June 22 LG announced that it
recently signed a MOU with Siemens to jointly
develop c/air conditioner control solutions. The
ceremony was attended by the Air Conditioner
Division Head EVP H. Y. Roh and other LGE
executives, as well as by Siemens officials
including Siemens
Koreas Building Automation Head and EVP Sascha
Brozek. The global electrical and electronics
leader Siemens last year posted sales of US
104.3 bn. in industrial solutions, energy,
healthcare. etc. In addition to its existing
commercial air conditioning products, LG, through
the alliance, expects to secure their control
solutions, thus bolstering its product and
service competitiveness and boosting its
overseas sales. The global commercial air
conditioning product market will increase to a
value of USD 36.3 bn. in 08 from the last years
USD 32.4 bn. The related solution market will
also rise to a value of USD 19 bn. this year from
USD 17 bn. EVP H. Y. Roh said, This MOU has
offered LG a steppingstone to expanding the
heating and cooling air conditioning business in
the global market.

Eliminating Waste by Using Excel
At the Parts Group, the Refrigerator Division,
the DA Company, employee Kim Dae-sam is a value
innovation core member for the Production Team,
and helps address many problems and difficulties
experienced by the production field. With the
rapidly changing market situations or a change
in development plans, the Production Team should
accordingly change production plans from time to
time. To notify such changes to the frontlines,
the team should produce production plans through
GERP. Kim Dea-sam came to know that this
process required tremendous workloads of
adjusting/reworking the information. In the
past, the system produced information even
unnecessary for the field. The data had to be
produced monthly, not weekly or biweekly as
required by the frontline. Necessary information

appeared in the last pages. Fonts and sizes had
to be adjusted. Editing was needed to print to
fit into A4 paper. This single one process took
more than five minutes, making it very difficult
to handle thousands of cases every month. He
thus pondered automating this process using the
Excel Macro Skill. He crafted a standard
production plan change tool to enable the
production frontlines to produce only necessary
information. The tool enables data production for
any period desired, and has addressed all the
many problems. He found a good waste elimination
theme in this ordinary or habitual work, which
offered a precious opportunity to enable many
people to conduct work easily and conveniently.
