Reflections
  • What I liked about this experience was that we
always had to log onto the website to find the
latest race updates. I love being on the
Internet! I also liked predicting and
anticipating what was going to happen. I was
close on my predictions on the number of days my
musher would finish the race. I predicted that
Harmony Barron would finish in 11 or 12 days. She
finished in 13 days, 5 hours, 58 minutes, with 47
seconds. I predicted she would arrive with 9 or
10 dogs and she arrived with 12 dogs to Nome. I
thought she would finish in 30th place, but she
didnt. She finished in 68th place. At least she
finished the race and she will receive 1,049
    dollars!

Reflections
  • Through all the time that weve been here, I
dont think we had realized that we did a lot of
different subjects. We did 30 Iditarod Problem
of the Day (P.O.D.) for Math using many
operations. We learned when the first Iditarod
race began, and why, so we did some History, too.
We predicted how long our mushers' would take to
get to the next checkpoint. We saw how many miles
there are from one checkpoint to the other. In
Language Arts we corrected sentences. For Reading
we read biographies of our musher. At school we
watched a movie called The Iditarod Dogs.
Mushers are really close to their dogs. It was
amazing to see the relationship between the dogs
and the mushers. The dogs are trust worthy,
caring, devoted, and mans best friend. Mrs.
Walker showed us how to use Word Art, how to use
Advance Search for Google. We learned how to see
our presentation slides in order. They showed us
how to paste and cut easier. We also learned how
to use good websites, and how to get the exact
thing from the Internet. Ms. Calvo copied a sheet
that had checkpoint descriptions, it had the
population, the latitude, and the longitude.
Instead of doing a slide for each and every
checkpoint we did it by fives. Mrs. Walker showed
us how to get pictures from the Internet. We
learned how to use technology wisely and faster.
We used digital cameras to take pictures and put
    them on our slides.
  • We were really busy and hard-working! I think
this experience was a great one! I really hope I
    do this again!

All My Thanks
  • The people I want to say thanks to is to Ms.
Calvo, my teacher, the people in the District Lab

Adela, Albert and Mr. Gallegos. If it wasnt for
Ms. Calvo we wouldnt have came. Thank you to Mr.
Gallegos for letting us come here. I also want to
say thanks to my group, Brenda, Charlie, and
Justin. Finally, I want to say thank you to my
mom, Roselia, my dad, Cesar, and my brother,
Cesar jr. and all my family. They have always
been there for me. Theres a lot of people to say
