The Real Answer

• The phases of the moon are caused by the relative
  position of the Earth Moon and Sun.
• The lit section is caused by sunlight reflecting
  off the moons surface.
• Except for a Lunar Eclipse, 50 of the moons
  surface is always in daylight!
• The dark section is the night side of the
  moon.
• A lunar day lasts 2 weeks and a lunar night, 2
  weeks.
