country began there were only 13 states. A stripe
for each state.
Each star in our flag now stands for a state.
Many states have been added since our country
began.

Display and Care of the Flag

• The flag should be displayed from a tall flagpole
  in every schoolyard.
• It should not be displayed on rainy or on very
  stormy days.
• The flag should never be allowed to touch the
  ground.
• Our American flag should fly above all other
  flags we have on display.
