In pointing out to Titus the qualifications for
leaders and followers and the meaning of the
phrase sound doctrine (21), Paul establishes
a standard and makes a clear distinction between
two types of individuals

The Standard

• Older men and women are to be dignified. (21)
• Younger men and women are to sensible (25-6)
• Bond-servants (employees) are to be well
  pleasing (29 cf Eph 65-6)

II. The Ritually Pure

• Because their confidence is in the ritual, they
  believe that everything they do is pure (115

• Because their heart has not changed, everything
  is defiled (115)
• Their profession of faith is not genuine (116)

III. The Redeemed

• A product of grace (211)
• Taught by grace (212) to live
• Sensibly with sound mind
• Righteously as imputed from God
• Godly or reverently as an antidote to being
• Amidst the world and its influences which we
  breathe in every day
