The Charge
  • 2 Timothy 41-22

Something To Think About
  • After tenderly addressing Timothy as his son in
the faith, Paul reminded him of his godly
    heritage. Furthermore, Paul gently reminded
Timothy that the Spirit of God had equipped him
with power and a sound mind. Timothy had nothing
of which he should be ashamed so he was to live
with a bold testimony for Christ. Timothys
strong stand was to be similar to the strength of
a soldier who forsook civilian affairs in order
    to do his job well.

KEY VERSE

2 Timothy 47 I have fought a good fight, I have
finished my course, I have kept the faith.
5
  • Lesson Objectives
  • To observe Pauls concern for the propagation of
    the gospel
  • To open our hearts to the spread of the gospel
  • To obey the command to preach the gospel to the
    world

6

  • 1 Timothy 613
  • 2. The Constancy (2)
  • Psalm 1910-11

7
  • Part II
  • The Reason (3-4)
  • 1. Itching Ears (3)
  • 2. Irresponsive Ears (4)

8
  • Myths, fables, and fairy tales are acceptable and
even beneficial in their place. Fables do not,
however, form a sufficient foundation for a
belief system. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and
the Tooth Fairy are fun imaginary characters for
children and their parents. A child may even feel
better when told that if he stops crying Santa
will bring an extra toy. When the child is
scared, however, he cannot call upon Santa
because Santa is not real. Real problems demand
    real solutions.

10
  • A difficult life had made heaven a
    much-anticipated changefor Paul. Perhaps many
people today are so comfortable that their desire
for heaven does not burn as hotly as did Pauls.

11
  • Persisting in the Word
  • 2 Timothy 49-22
  • Forsaken (9-15)
  • Colossians 47-8 Ephesians 621-22
  • B. Forgiving (16)
  • C. Farewell (17-22)
  • Acts 1922

12
  • There is nothing like being on course, knowing
you arewhere you need to be in life and with the
Lord. Even when facing death, Paul had confidence
in his relationship with Christ and his position
in His plan. Because of that he was able to thank
those who were dear to him and forgive those who
had hurt him. Dont wait until the end of life to
make these amends and get on the right track.

13
  • QUESTIONS FOR STUDY AND DISCUSSION
  • 1. Why was Paul so concerned about the role and
character of the minister, specifically Timothy?
  • 2. Why would preaching the Word become difficult?
  • 3. How did Paul evaluate his life?
  • 4. Why was Paul so calm when facing death?
  • 5. What was Pauls reaction to negative
    situations?
  • 6. How had the Lord preserved Paul?
