• Established out of HECs Strategic Planning
  session for Jan 2009-June 2010 and draft
  organizational structure
• Goal to advance health equity by strengthening
  health equity research networks and information
  exchange and by linking community based
  researchers working with marginalized groups with
  health service providers, researchers and policy
  organizations

HEC Research Committee Activities

• Conduct a survey of community based research
  related to ethnoracial health disparities to
  build an inventory of health equity research, and
  a network of individuals and organizations
  interested in working on guidelines for research
  data collection
• Work with others to develop updated guidelines
  for ethnoracial and equity-oriented research
  data collection, expand on other work (e.g.
  Toronto Public Health, 1997)
• Involve and promote the involvement of CBR
  researchers and marginalized groups in decision
  making about equity research and data collection
• Reference list of gt50 other published Canadian
  studies on ethnoracial health disparities compiled

• 59 (56) had conducted, partnered or participated
  in CBR to address health disparities with
  racialized communities
• 45 expressed interest in having input to
  developing guidelines for ethnoracial research
  and data collection
• Invite to contribute to inventory and/or
