  • Study New York, Inc. is a consortium of colleges,
    universities, and other accredited educational
    institutions in the State of New York.
  • The goals of the organization are
  • To promote New York State as a study destination
    for international students.
  • To increase the global visibility, favorable
    image and identity of New York State and its
    institutions of higher education.
  • To strengthen communication among educational
    institutions in New York State with regards to
    best practices in international student services
    and recruitment.
  • To facilitate partnerships between educational
    institutions in New York State and those in other
    countries including student exchanges, faculty
    exchanges, and study abroad opportunities.
  • To capitalize upon the services and support of
    State and Federal agencies.

The mission of Study New York, Inc., as stated by
the bylaws The Corporation shall represent a
group of educational and training organizations
in New York State whose broad purpose is to
connect international students and professionals
with quality education and training. The mission
of the Corporation is to position New York State
as the destination of choice for students from
around the world, thereby improving the
visibility and global competitiveness of the
States institutions of higher learning, and
expanding the States services exports. Specific
goals include collective work to develop,
promote, and distribute marketing materials that
serve the common needs of all members, to
collaborate on international student recruitment
events and to deploy web-based tools to support
and advance such activities.

  • 500 annual dues for educational institutions
    (membership by calendar year)
  • Special 100 discount for Founding Members
    members that join before the end of 2009 (also
    receive the remainder of 2009 free)
  • Dues set by the Board of Directors annually
  • Affiliate members (non-institutional) 1,500

Board of Directors of Study New York The Board
of Directors shall be comprised of no fewer than
twelve (12) persons, and additional members may
be added as to the Board deems necessary. Of
these, four shall be the officers of the
Corporation, two shall be the federal and state
government liaisons (the Government Liaisons),
three shall be the administrative liaisons for
each of the State University of New York
(SUNY), City University of New York (CUNY)
and the Commission on Independent College and
Universities (CICU) (the University Liaisons
and together with the Government Liaisons, the
Liaisons), and the rest shall be elected from
the by the members. The directors shall be
classified with respect to their terms of office
by dividing them into three (3) classes, each
class to be as nearly equal in number as
possible.

  • Nominations open December 7, 2009 and close on
    January 11, 2010
  • Nominations for Board positions may be
    self-nominations
  • Nominations should be sent in paper or via email
    to Nick Forcier, Board Secretary
  • In January, and email ballot will be sent to all
    dues-paying institutional members of Study New
    York
  • In February, the current Board will certify the
    results, contact the new Board members for their
    first meeting, and announce the results to the
    entire membership via email
