• My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into
  various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of
  your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience
  have its perfect work, that you may be perfect

• Moses was put on hold for 40 years on the
  backside of a desert, before God spoke at the
  burning bush.
• David was chased by Saul for 16 yrs in the
  wilderness, before he was crowned King of Judah.

• During these times God may be
• Testing my character
• Purifying my motives
• Focusing my faith

• Delays in and of themselves do not imply Gods
  approval or disapproval.
• Delays may impede progress, they cant keep us
  from doing Gods business.

• Worthy spiritual goals may include
• Better prayer life
• Increased bible study
• Faithful attendance at church
• Building a strong family

• 1. Delays can be part of Gods process of moving
  us to where He wants us to be.
• Joseph went from the pit to the palace.

• 2. Delays can fine tune our timing.
• To everything there is a season, A time for every
  purpose under heaven Eccl 31 (NKJV)

• Delays may be Gods way of positioning you so that
  you can be in the right place at the right time.
• Delays can spell defeat or cause us to dig deep
  and hang in there.

• Winston Churchill, never give up.
• Joseph was delayed but not defeated.

• 3. Delays should never cause you to lose sight of
  your dream.
• Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his
  brothers and they hated him even more. 6 So he
  said to them, "Please hear this dream which I
  have dreamed 7 There we were, binding sheaves in
  the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also
  stood upright and indeed your sheaves stood all
  around and bowed down to my sheaf." 8 And his

  over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over
  us?" So they hated him even more for his dreams
  and for his words. 9 Then he dreamed still
  another dream and told it to his brothers, and

  this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven
  stars bowed down to me." 10 So he told it to his
  father and his brothers and his father rebuked
  him and said to him, "What is this dream that you
  have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your
  brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth
  before you?" 11 And his brothers envied him, but
  his father kept the matter in mind. Gen 375-11

• 4. Delays can help us improve.
• There is always room for improvement, even Paul
  said he was improving!

• 5. Delays present opportunities to work harder.
• 6. Delays help to build reputation.
• Reputation is what you have when you come to
  town, character is what you have when you leave.

• 7. Delays give people a chance to improve.

• 9. Delays remind me to never give up.
• 10. Delays become our past.
