Legends say that she was not born of their union,
butof a bizarre way when Hera was having dinner
with Apollo, she ate some wild lettuce and became
pregnant.

Her name comes from Greek word meaning "youth" or
"prime of life". Romans Called her Juventas,
which also ment youth

She, the most beautiful of the goddesses, walks
forever in Olympus beside her mother Hera,
goddess of marriage" Pindar, Nemean Odes 10.15
The Greeks description of her On first encounter
she appeared from a golden glow with silver
edges. She is a graceful Goddess and she does
choose a very youthful face - about 16 years old.
She has long fair golden hair, a pale complexion
and beautiful rose-bud mouth big sparkling mauve
blue eyes, most beautiful eyes with long dark
lashes. Hebe is altogether a very attractive
Goddess. However, she, like most other Goddesses,
and Gods can choose their appearance, for on
other occasions she appears older, in her late
30s to early 40s. At such times she has a fuller
figure but not fat, fair brown hair which she
wears in a coil in a Grecian style. Even then she
has a kind and peaceful face. Most times she
wears a robe with draped neckline and long
sleeves and a plaited girdle around her waist.

Her personality
She has less charisma than many of the Greek
Goddesses and relies on her gifts to get
attention. She was also said to be clumsy,
causing her to lose her spot as cupbearer. She
was lively and when the gods had a feast should
would like to sing and dance along with the Muses
and the Graces.

Daughter of Zeus and Hera
She married Hercules, once he became immortal.
Sister of Ares, Eileithvia ,and possibly even
Eris.

Her job in Olympus
She was commonly known as the goddess of youth
and of spring. To others she was the patron
goddess of the young bride. She was also
worshipped as a goddess of pardons or
forgiveness, because of this freed prisoners
would hang their chains in the sacred grove of
her sanctuary at Phlius.
In Olympus she was known as the cupbearer to the
gods. Meaning an officer of high rank in royal
courts, whose duty it was to serve the wine at
the god table. On account of the constant fear
of plots and intrigues, a person must be regarded
as thoroughly trustworthy to hold this position.
She must guard against poison in the god's cup,
and was sometimes required to swallow some of the
wine before serving it. Her confidential
relations with Zeus often endeared her to his
sovereign and also gave her a position of great
influence.

Also in Olympus she prepared Ares' bath, and
helped Hera to her chariot. Other than that she
was known to be one of Aphrodite's attendants.
Her responsibility was for all womankind.

Portrayed in art as
In art, she is portrayed as a young maiden
wearing a sleevles dress.
In myth
In one myth she granted a man named Lolaus his
youth back for one day so he could fight his
enemy Eurystheus.

Today, this goddess is remembered from having a
flower named after her.

Her Archetype
The Maiden The Maiden Archetype represents
purity and the innocence of childhood. Where the
souls dreams, magic and make believe still
prevail. It is also an aspect of the triple
goddess, together with the Mother and the Crone
they represents the cycles of the moon and the
different stages of a womans life. Shadow
Maiden is very self centered all, her dreams and
energy is expended on achieving her own personal
needs and goals. As a symbol of everlasting
youth Hebe is considered to be a Maiden Goddess
despite the fact that she is married and is no
longer a virgin.
