Title: PK Studios

1
PK Studios
  • Rory Buck

2
My Self
  • I at this point will be out of college, and have
    a BA in game design.
  • I have also worked in a game studio for 2-3 years
and feel I have the leadership skills to run a
    studio.

3
Business Game Studio
  • I plan to make a game studio, called PK (Player
    Killer) Studios.
  • With the video game market being a hundred
billion dollar industry, I feel that I could
bring something new to the market.
  • All I require is a loan of 750,000. These slides
will illustrate why I need that much money.

4
Who Why 750,000?
  • I plan to take out a series of Loans from
Independent investors to pay them at fixed of
their investments. Upon my first release of a
game (concept of which is further down in
    presentation).
  • Seeing the high amount of money the amount I
would need, would make any investor willing to
put in, provided they see they can get a return
    on their investment.
  • I If I borrowed that much at 10 interest, I they
would make 75,000 dollars. I would pay 75,000
every time we release a game, or more if
available. Until the sum of the money I pay is
equal to 825,000 dollars. I dont account for
this in my fees because this will mostly come out
    of profit of games

    shouldnt need heat.

Local Electrical Plumbing
  • Using a lot of Electricity- the price comes in at
around 510(given their values on my use of 18
computers) a month. It will cost and extra
    50-100 a month in summer (A/C).
  • According to the Lincoln Water System, it would
cost around 30 dollars a month for water for the
    place.

9
Internet phone Use
  • From insight-com I can get a bundle, of the
High-end Internet and Phone Service for 100 a

12
The Computers.
  • Obviously me and my team will need require come
serious hardware, as the Games are getting more

    upgrading.
  • Total Price of Computer- 3,255.90
  • Mind you I need 18 of these.

17
Computers (Hardware Final)
  • I require 18 of these. This comes to 58606.20.

    (215)

19
18 Staffers
  • All staffers will require knowledge in C
coding, and a BA or equivalent in game design.
  • I will end up hiring at least 1 graphic designer
for ads in magazines, as well as 1 Sound
director. They have to be able to compose music,
    and conduct an orchestra.

20
Paying them peanuts
  • I will pay them on a weekly basis, of 400 a
    week.
  • However they will be required to finish certain
tasks by a date I see fit, or no pay.
  • Total- 7200

21
Game Concept
  • The game will feature a unique physical combat
mechanism, with a 3rd person Perspective. This
will separate our game in how it would use the
right analog stick to fight as opposed to other
games that use buttons for combos. This will
create a large learning curve, yet due to its
simplicity in concept will make it easy to learn.
  • This would please both hardcore gamers in that
it would add a certain amount of skill to the
game, yet still make it marketable to those with
    no experience.

22
Game Concept (2)
  • Also it would add more complexities in how the
blocking features and interactions of models
could chain into a Counter (triggers) would
interact to produce a fluidic motion similar to
    martial arts films.
  • The story will change to match the game, but
despite my current plan for it to be War themed,
will maintain T rating material to keep the game
open for the general audience as opposed to an
    M-rated Game like GTA
  • I understand the industry and will use this to
make good games that will sell. Above all else a
game should be fun, or at least compelling.

23
Audio Production
  • Well Use basic sound software that comes with
windows, and use import it into games as MP3.
  • Eventually at the end of production Ill hire
voice actors to do the voices and well rent a
sound studio, and our sound director could
compose music for the game. They will be paid by
the hour and depending on how much dialogue in
game, will affect the amount they are paid.

24
Advertising
  • Cheap advertising.
  • Will advertise will be in game magazines(300-500
    a Magazine).
  • Game Shows and Magazines will interview us for
info on our game. This way they have articles, we
get word out on our game, its cheap and
    effective.
  • We may end up at E3 or other game developer
conferences. And pay the 1,000 developer fee.
Then We may get financial support from game
consoles themselves and get word out on our
    game.
  • Well also start an internet campaign by paying
certain sites to do a comic of put an add on our
    site.

25
Disc Production
  • Well go through a production company and give
them the stuff to put on the discs. Will go
through a game production company like Majesco,
to produce the Physical game. Well make 20,000
discs in just the first run and based on their
sales in the first week well go from there.
Theyll charge us about 8 a disc to upload the
data and burn the CDs with cases. So with a price
of 40 Well make 30 a disc. (Retailers sell
    them at 50)

26
Shipping Costs
  • Costs for shipping the discs and the discs will
go to distributors so theyll buy them from us
and then theyll sell them to the stores.
  • No real cost to us.

27
Money vs. Expense
  • With the loan of 750,000 it looks like this
  • 750,000
  • 180,000(building)
  • 60,806(computers and software)
  • 5,718(office supplies and chairs)
  • 160,000 (Production costs DVDs)
  • Total remaining343,476

28
Wheres the rest going?
  • To cover bills until game is released.
  • It will act as buffer space if the first game is
    not successful.
  • This will mean that the investors, get paid if
the first game tanks and give us time to learn
from our mistakes. Also it means that we could
make more disks if the first game was a success,
and make a larger profit to pay the investor back.

29
PK studios
  • Its a solid investment with a guaranteed chance
    of return.
  • Its a smart investment, as once we make a
reputable title, one of the bigger developers
might buy our studio and cover the loan.

30
PK Studios - End
  • Invest with us.
