I have a perception and a view that probably 80
of our problems have answers already. It doesnt
make a lot of sense for us to spend hundreds of
thousands of dollars initiating project work in
these areas when there are 50, 60, 100 other
companies that have similar sorts of equipment
and have similar sorts of issues.

best and brightest technical experts in the
chemical process industry. ALBERT BIGGS,
General Manager, Maintenance Technical
Services, Saudi International Petrochemical

THE MTI DIFFERENCE A Further Look
5. Knowledge Bank MTI identifies, develops, and
disseminates technical materials information
to its members. Web links to a technical
database of research projects, forum
archives, and materials industry links. 6.
Leveraging Funding MTI pools the resources of
like- minded companies, directly sponsors, or
leverages other funding sources to solve
problems in the CPI that might otherwise not
be addressed due to funding issues. 7.

TESTIMONIALS TO SUCCESS
Eastmans investment in MTI has paid off many
times over. We have gotten answers to many
questions that resulted in direct cost savings to
Eastman. Typically we cover the cost of
participation each year in MTI related cost
savings. GARY WHITTAKER, Eastman
Chemical
Budget justifications are needed every year, but
we feel MTI allows us to operate with less staff
than we would need without MTI this results in a
large cost benefit. In addition, we have
benefited from projects Rohm Haas would have
traditionally done in-house. KEITH
BRIEGEL, Rohm and Haas

TESTIMONIALS TO SUCCESS A Further Look
What other organization is out there that can
provide expertise to your questions in a matter
of minutes? As a member of MTI you can send
critical questions to the most mind boggling
problems your plant may have, and in most cases,
have an answer that will help you work through
your problem. Being a member allows you to know
the top experts in the field. KELLY
WYROUGH, The Roberts Company
Air Products recognized that failure of
materials of construction was a major safety
concern, and to allow such a failure to occur
because of ignorance was not acceptable. This is
exactly the type of investment that a company
should make if it is to be a leader in the
industry. SHELDON DEAN, Air Products
23
TESTIMONIALS TO SUCCESS A Further Look
If you look at all of the projects that weve
done at MTI, weve probably gotten information or
some useful data or out of 85-90 of them.
BRIAN FITZGERALD, Exxon-Mobil
Really, for the here-and-now, where the
rubber-meets-the-road issues in the field of
plastic materials, MTI is really the only place
where we would get value out of. MTI gets things
done. PRADIP KHALADKAR, Senior Consultant,
DuPont Materials Group
