  • One of the many forms of torture Joseph
Mengele used were pressure chambers. He would put
people in pressure chambers and increase or
decrease the pressure to observe how the human
body reacts to massive altitude changes. Many
people were killed during this experiment,
those that didnt die were seriously injured.

  • Another one of Mengelesso called
experiments was to take men, women and children
and put them in a tank of freezing water and
watch them freeze to death. In order to observe
how long it took the body to shut down in
    freezing water.

  • Not only did Mengele cut people apart in
horrible ways, all his operations were
performed without the use of anesthetics.

  • Mengele was fascinated by twins. Especially
identical twins. Some of his most gruesome
experiments were done on twins. There was one
instance where he cut one side off each twin,
then he sewed them together down the middle to
create Siamese twins. The hands of one of the
twins hands got infected and they died.

  • Another experiment performed on Auschwitz
prisoners was seawater. They would force
prisoners to drink only sea water with no food.
They were trying to find a way to make sea water
drinkable. The prisoners became so dehydrated
that they would lick the floors after they had
been mopped, just to get a drop of fresh water.
This caused enormous pain and great bodily harm.

  • There were few survivors from Auschwitz,
but even fewer survived Mengeles operations.
The few that did were severely maimed and
    traumatized. They also suffered from
    psychological damage.

  • After the Germans lost the war they went
through their death camps and destroyed
everything, or almost everything. They burnt
the bodies and blew up the crematoriums. But
despite their efforts to cover their tracks they
left more than enough evidence to prove their
    guilt.
